Mental Health First Aid (MHFA)

Similar to ‘First Aid’ and CPR, ‘Mental Health First Aid’ helps those experiencing mental health problems before they can get professional help and support.

Mental health problems – such as depression, anxiety, and misuse of alcohol and other drugs – are increasingly common in the United States. The National Council on Community Behavioral Healthcare has begun working with communities and organizations throughout the nation, including the OMNI Institute, to implement Mental Health First Aid (MHFA). MHFA provides skills to empower individuals to help community members who might be developing a mental health problem or experiencing a mental health crisis.

For more information on upcoming MHFA trainings or to schedule a training for your group, email the RPS project at rps@omni.org.
